This is my first permit

California requires 16 hours of instruction and a live-fire qualification before the Sheriff will issue you a permit. Do the hours in a classroom, online, or half of each.

I am renewing

A renewal is 8 hours of instruction and a range qualification. Finish both in a single visit, or do the hours in a classroom or online and qualify on a Monday.

I only need to qualify

Adding a pistol to a permit you already hold, a BSIS qualification, or a qualification you still owe us. No classroom time.

Still not sure? Read how the San Diego permit process works, start to finish. You will need your Sheriff’s conditional approval before you attend any class.

Online courses, any day you like

The eight hour course is $249 and the sixteen hour course is $499. Neither includes your live fire, so each needs one date on a range to finish it.

Renewing: eight hours online plus a $60 Monday qualification, $309 all in. First permit: eight hours online plus a $299 range day, $548, which is the blended route. Or all sixteen hours online plus the $60 Monday qualification, $559. Start whenever, finish whenever, then book the day that completes it.

How online works
See the blended dates
A classroom day and a range day are not the same class. A classroom day is instruction only, indoors. A range day is live fire outdoors and includes your qualification. First-time applicants need one of each. Renewals need either a range day on its own, or a classroom day plus a Monday qualification.

Dates fill in the order they are booked. If a class shows no seats, ask to be told when the next one opens: info@ccwusa.com.
