Range qualification
Monday evenings, indoors, about an hour.
A scored qualification shoot at The Gun Range San Diego in Kearny Mesa. Reserve your spot on the event page, then pay Bill at the range. No card is charged online.
This is not a class.
It is a scored qualification. Your instruction hours have to be finished before you come, with us or with another provider. If you have not done them yet, start with the first permit classes or a renewal route instead.

What it costs
$40 to qualify, $20 per pistol.
One pistol is $60. Every pistol after that is another $20. BSIS qualifications are priced the same.
Payment is taken at the range, by card or cash. Nothing is charged when you reserve, which means changing your mind costs you nothing. Tell us if your plans change and the slot goes to somebody else.
The RSVP on each event page is the only booking step. There is no checkout, no deposit and no card on file.
Bring only the pistols you intend to carry. Every pistol you qualify with can be listed on your permit, and every pistol on your permit has to be requalified when you renew.
Due at the range
$60 for one pistol

Two pistols $80. Three pistols $100. BSIS qualifications are priced exactly the same.

Every session starts at 4:00 PM at The Gun Range San Diego, 7853 Balboa Avenue in Kearny Mesa. The range is held until 6:00, and one pistol takes about an hour.
Each row opens its own event page, and the RSVP lives there. Reserving is free and nothing is charged online.
Plans changed?
Call 619-871-9834 or email info@ccwusa.com and we will give the slot to somebody else. Nothing was charged, so there is nothing to refund.
What to bring
- Your permit, or your certificate of completion
- Government photo ID
- Every pistol you are qualifying with
- Eye and ear protection
- A strong-side or appendix holster
- A proper gun belt
- At least 50 rounds for each pistol
- $60 for one pistol, $20 for each extra, card or cash

Questions people ask first
Only if your instruction hours are already done. California requires 16 hours for a first permit and 8 for a renewal, and a qualification shoot is neither. If you are starting from scratch, begin with the first permit classes or a renewal route.
Yes, as long as the course covered the hours your permit needs: 16 for a first permit, 8 for a renewal. The online course cannot cover live fire, which is what this session is. Bring your completion certificate with you.
Nothing but the RSVP on the event page, and nothing is charged for it. We do not ask for pistol details online. Bring the pistols you are qualifying with and tell the instructor at the start of the session.
There is no fixed limit and each additional pistol is $20. Be realistic about time: every pistol is a separate scored course of fire, and one pistol takes about an hour.

You reshoot. Bill has over thirty years of teaching behind him and the point is to get you qualified, not to catch you out. If it is not happening that evening, come back to another Monday.
Because plans change and a Monday is easy to move. Paying at the range keeps it simple for everyone and means changing your mind costs you nothing.
