Eight hours of classroom instruction at your own pace, then one full day on the range. The San Diego County Sheriff accepts the online course in place of the classroom day, so this is a complete first permit with only one day away from your week.
What it costs, honestly
$249 for the course and $299 for the range day, so $548 for the permit. Taken entirely in person it is $499, because booking two in-person days takes $49 off automatically. Online is the more expensive route, not the cheaper one. What the extra money buys you is a day back.
How it works
Pick a range day below. Both halves go into your cart together and you pay once. Your course downloads arrive by email the moment the payment clears, so you can start that evening.
Your range day ends with a twenty question written test on the course material, so work through the chapters before you go rather than after. Bring the signed certification form with you and hand it to Bill when you arrive. Your certificate is issued the day you qualify.
If you would rather do the whole thing in person, or you are renewing instead of applying for the first time, the other routes are on the initial permit page.
Pick your range day
Each date below is a full day at the private range in Escondido or Alpine, and includes your qualification. Choosing one puts it in your cart along with the online course.
New to carrying, or you would rather ask questions in a room with an instructor? Take the classroom day in person. We would rather you did.
